This isn't from Mrs. Arthur Garibaldi. She would have understood Blueberry Muffin's charm." -- Using "Mrs" plus her own first name signals that she's a widow. Any readers of the time would have recognised that.

The "strawberry pudding" sounds like a mid-20th-century US Midwest version of Eton mess. (No insult intended; I grew up in the mid-20th-century US Midwest.) A real Eton mess consists of broken-up meringues and slightly mashed berries stirred into whipped cream.Robbiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13817438530048331339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8696383493674768665.post-37042665631800690942016-05-22T09:57:14.261-04:002016-05-22T09:57:14.261-04:00I've had blackberry sweet corn ice cream, and ...I've had blackberry sweet corn ice cream, and it was delicious. I do remember "asking Santa" for a Dancerina Doll one year, the same year my sister asked for The Kissy Doll, lol...

Strawberry season is taking its sweet time arriving here in PA. It doesn't make me happy:) Once again I am in awe of these recipes. I just keep telling myself furure generations will be wondering what we were thinking some day, lol...Although, you're prorably right about the Berry Corn Cobbler. I'm not sure about being mixed in but yes I can see it in the pastry crust.

Thanks for the giggle with these recipes, Poppy. It has been another dreary, rainy day in PA and now I'm thinking strawberries!!! ~~louise~~https://www.blogger.com/profile/07335196139849995706noreply@blogger.com
