I thought that maybe bread with tomato juice was a way to pretend to have tomatoes in winter, kind of like apple pies made with Ritz crackers instead of apples. The cup of brown sugar nearly gagged me (much like the canned peas in the first recipe, or the terrible things done with gelatin in the last recipe). I guess that I'm glad that I am perfectly content eating eggs prepared in a simple way every day. Frankfurters, link sausage, ground sausage, green sausage, links on a Mac and cheese campfire. I feel like there should be some sort of PSA about how you should never put a green sausage in your mouth. Always check your sausage for proper color to make sure that it's not diseased. Sunshine salad usually puts them in with orange or lemon Jell-O, and that's pretty good. I also see recipes for hot glazed carrots that call for orange juice concentrate as part of the glaze. Carrots and citrus are kind of classic. Can't say as I'd be enthused about cabbage or beets in Jell-O, though.

The huge frozen fruit salad comes with a mention of using it for a church Christmas party, and the size does make it seem more like a party dish (maybe for people you don't like much!) than a family one (unless you've got ten kids who need after-school snacks).Poppy Crockerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06511594971890413159noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8696383493674768665.post-20643646151237721252024-02-28T20:09:43.437-05:002024-02-28T20:09:43.437-05:00As I was reading the 3 row garden salad recipe, I ...As I was reading the 3 row garden salad recipe, I though that orange and carrot goes together okay. Then I wondered why I thought that. Was it just that they got paired together so much? Then I kept reading. Lime and cabbage, lemon with vinegar and beets. If I had to take any of it, I would definitely go for oranges and carrots.
Then there's the question of who needs 72 servings of a frozen fruit salad? I imagine it turning out like those giant cases of tube popsicles people buy, only to find out that they are absolutely disgusting. They had to find elaborate ways to make convenience foods less convenient to prove themselves.
