The Bach fans in Cleveland liked to mock lovers of cream cheese, but the Women's Auxiliary of the Fayerweather Yacht Club, Inc. (Fayerweather Auxiliary Cookbook, 1977-78) think snack mix is sillier.
They feed their idiots Chinese noodles and Spanish peanuts. At least everyone is willing to keep their idiots fed!
Some of the earliest scaremongering about MSG comes from around 1968 - I wonder if that's why they've declared this the snackfood of idiots.

DeleteI like how the instructions say to dissolve the butter. Doesn't butter melt? Someone obviously wasn't paying attention in science class. Of course back then girls didn't have to be smart, just be pretty and marry well.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they meant the salt and MSG would dissolve in the butter, but they ended up saying the butter would dissolve? I make misstatements like that all the time, to the confusion of anyone with the misfortune of having to listen.
